What to do when passion alone isn’t growing your dance business
TRUTH BOMB: passion alone isn’t enough to grow and scale a wildly successful Dance Business
I opened my first Dance studio at the age of 19, with just three students and a talented 16-year-old ‘assistant’. I thought I would set the dance world on fire!
While I was (and still am!) so passionate about Dance and had drive and ambition to succeed, I was missing something HUGE.
I had absolutely NO CLUE about the pillars of business and how to make success happen.
All I knew was that I had a burning passion, and absolutely LOVED to dance. I thought that if I was just good at what I did, then I would succeed.
I learned the hard way (so you don’t have to)
I had to learn – often the hard way – that to succeed and to grow, there is SO much more involved than just being good at what you do. So many of us enter businesses in the dance industry based purely on our passion for dance rather than our KNOWLEDGE of how to do business well.
What do you do instead of relying on your passion to succeed?
Learning to master your dance business from start-up to stardom is a huge journey, but it’s a journey that’s well worth the effort and can fill you with a huge sense of excitement, personal empowerment and give you incredible professional credit. While you may have passion, an idea and loads of energy, there are lots of skills required from a business perspective that will help you not only survive, but THRIVE and PROSPER.
Investing in your learning and understanding of the principles of business, growing your skill set and focussing on what it takes to succeed from the get-go can help you take your business from start-up to DANCE BUSINESS EMPIRE!
